In this video, we show why rotation speed during installation is a critical parameter to measure – even though it has no influence on the final bearing capacity of a screw pile.
🔹 Higher rotation speed produces significantly higher torque readings
from 2100 Nm at 5 RPM to 3800 Nm at 80 RPM.
🔹 But the bearing capacity stays the same – only the numbers change.
🔹 Without measuring rotation speed, torque data can create a false sense of security.
Research from Aalborg University clearly demonstrates that torque alone cannot be used as proof of bearing capacity.
To document screw piles correctly, you must also know the advancement ratio and the other installation parameters.
This is exactly why Pilar has developed a system that ensures correct documentation – fast, reliable and fully digital.
