Walking the same meadow trails, dipping my toes into the same chilling pond, I imagined myself stepping through time into another story. When the melody of Mystery of love rings again in my year, a song I have heard thousands of times, a song that calmed me down through the most anxious, stressful, and horrible days, I felt that same heart break I felt almost 8 years ago when I first watched the movie.

From Vancouver to New York, I first visited Oliver’s home. This time, I came to Italy, to Crema, to see Elio’s. I was 16 when I first watched the movie. Now, I am almost Oliver’s age. I think what I came to realize is that love is still such a beautiful thing. The unknowing. The questioning. The jealousy. The fear. The uncertainty. The sting. The wave of emptiness when you turn your head and the person was gone. Love is so mysterious, so hurtful, but we still spend our entire lives chasing them. Even if it means hurting through the process. Even if it means a lifetime of reminiscing the could’ve and should’ves. Because love is truly a mysterious things.

I hope to be back in Crema soon, with someone who can help me reenact the rest of the scenes. For today, I have my dear friend @francesmdv as my Oliver. I didn’t meet the love of my life, but I did meet a super cool bad ass bisexual girl from Namibia. Thank you @eliooliverlovetour for the amazingly organized and detailed trip. I had the time of my life!
