Every Fresh Water Snail overview *nerite female snails will lay eggs over tank

Limpet- PH 7.5-8.2 Temp 74-84 however a wide range is accepted, constant parameters are what's more important than target numbers( such as reaching a ph of 7.5, or a temp of 82 exactly). Try not to stress as much about where your parameters are, but whether they are consistent. Limpets live in fresh water, brackish water and sometimes salt water, they breed in brackish water. These are very new to the hobby, they are peaceful, and have a hard time turning themselves over. Max size 1.5 inches. Eats biofilms and algae off rocks and glass. Unknown lifespan to me, as they are very new to the hobby. Let me know if you know!

Assassin Snail- Ph 7-8 Temp 75-80, however a wide range is accepted. Size 3 inches, lifespan 2 years. They breed slowly you need a male and female, female lays one egg at a time which takes 2 months to hatch. Diet includes other snails, worms, dead fish and small inverts, they are opportunist feeders. These snails burrow which is very good for sand, as it allows gas exchange and sifts the sand keeping it cleaner.

Nerite Snail- Ph 6.5-8.5 Temp 65-85, a wide range is accepted. Size dime to a quarter, life span 1 year. They lay eggs but need brackish water to hatch. These snails have a hard time turning over. They eat phytoplankton, cyanobacteria, diatoms, film algae, and need diet supplements like vegetables. FEMALES WILL LAY EGGS ALL OVER TANK

Mystery Snail- Ph 7.6-8.4 Temp 68-84, wide range accepted. Size 2 inches+ , life span 1 year. Breeding requires a male and female the female will lay eggs above the water line of the tank. Special care can be taken to hatch these eggs. These snails eat algae and decaying/dead plants

Malaysian Trumpet Snail- Ph 7-7.5 Temp 70-78. Size 1 inch, lifespan 1 year +. These snails are prolific breeders, they give birth to live snails, however they will only produce off spring as long as there is food for them. In other words to keep their population in control watch feeding habits. These snails burrow which is great for sand as it allows gas exchange, and helps to keep the sand bed clean. These snails eat dead fish, uneaten food, and decaying/dead plants.

Ramshorn Snail- Ph 7-7.5 Temperature 70-78, wide range accepted. Size 4 cm, lifespan 1 year. Doesn't need a mate to breed, lays eggs that hatch within 2 to 5 weeks. Eats decaying/dead plants. Soft algae, uneaten food, and dead fish.

Bladder Snail- Ph 7-8 Temp 64-84, wider range accepted. Size 1/2 inch, lifespan 2 years. Prolific breeders, lays eggs 10-40 at a time which hatch in 6 to 7 days. Great additions for pea puffer tanks. Eats dead plants, detritus and algae.

Pagoda Snail- Ph 6.8-7.5 Temp 72- 82, wider range accepted. They prefer fast moving water, and dim light/ Size 2 inches, 2-5 years. 5 gallons per snail. Breed conditions unknown(meaning the parameters needed for breeding aren't known). What is known is the female gives live birth once a year, up to 50 snails, but they need powdered food 2 times daily to survive. These snails eat algae and waste.

Rabbit Snail- Ph 7.2-7.5 Temp 76-84, wider range accepted. Size 2 inches, 1-3 years. Breeds very slowly only having one off spring at a time. Eats algae and decaying plants, needs supplemented food, like vegetables.

Chopstick Snail- Ph 7.5-8.2 Temperature 67-88, wider range accepted. Size 1 inch, unknown lifespan, these are very rare in the trade. Only has one off spring at a time, multiple times a year, slow breeder. Very slow moving snail, great at sand sifting. Eats waste and does NOT eat plants.

Black Devil Spike Snail- Ph 7-8.5 Temperature 71-82, wider range accepted. Size 3 inches, 10 gallons per snail. Life span 6 years, breeds in brackish water only. Eats algae dead plants, and WILL eat some live plants.
