Tarsal tunnel syndrome:
A multicystic fluid intensity lesion/ganglion cyst is located in the narrow space of the fibro-osseous tarsal tunnel.
It lies directly next to the neurovascular bundle and seems to exert pressure on it.
Tarsal tunnel syndrome refers to an entrapment neuropathy (tunnel syndrome) of the (posterior) tibial nerve or of its branches within the tarsal tunnel.
Etiology can be idiopathic , ganglion cysts ,varicosities , tenosynovitis of the flexor tendons , tumors ( e.g. schwannoma , lipoma ), accessory or hypertrophied abductor hallucis muscle , synovial hypertrophy ,hindfoot valgus ,pes planus , post-traumatic fibrosis and os trigonum.
