Journey to Shandur Top & Lake – Where Gilgit Meets Chitral – EP:39

Описание: After spending two nights in Mastuj, it was finally time to move ahead towards Shandur Pass and then on to Shandur Lake for a night of camping. I didn’t leave too early in the morning—around 10 a.m. I checked out of the hotel, handed my broken shoe to a cobbler, filled up the fuel tank, and even fixed the double-stand spring of my bike.

Before starting the ride, I stopped for breakfast at a café called Mountain Night. The prices were very reasonable—two parathas, a cup of tea, and a plate of chana—all for just 280 rupees. By almost 11 a.m., I officially began my journey from Mastuj Bazaar towards Shandur Top.

My first plan was to visit a unique natural spot nearby known as Khooni Chashma (the Red Spring). Unfortunately, I passed it by about six kilometers, and because of the rough off-road track, I decided not to turn back. I told myself I’d explore it next time.

Along the way, I crossed several small villages. The biggest among them was Harchin Laspur, and after that came the last and largest village, Sor Laspur. From there, the climb towards Shandur began.

Around 2 p.m., I finally reached Shandur Top at 12,500 feet. The weather was surprisingly hot at this altitude, so I didn’t stay too long. Almost at the same height lies Shandur Lake, and I rode down to spend some time there. The lake was stunning, and I stayed for about 45 minutes. My plan was to do night camping, but I had to cancel it because the area was full of locust-like insects and countless frog tadpoles.

Even though camping wasn’t possible, the experience of riding along the new Shandur Road was amazing. The road under construction looked beautiful, and I enjoyed the views all the way. By evening, I reached Langer and stayed there for the night.

This journey from Mastuj to Shandur Pass and Shandur Lake was full of unforgettable moments, breathtaking views, and raw adventure—an experience truly worth sharing.
