Palm Cove Beach is located in northern Queensland, near Smithfield, approximately 27 kilometers north of Cairns. This scenic beach lies near the Great Barrier Reef region, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the reef, while also offering easy access to the Daintree Rainforest.
Palm Cove is famous for its palm tree-lined, white sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing and strolls. Along the beach, there are luxury resorts and restaurants that create a romantic atmosphere. Popular activities include fishing from the Palm Cove jetty, boat tours, kayaking, and jet skiing. Nearby, Hartley's Crocodile Adventures is a popular attraction where visitors can get up close with Australia's wildlife, including crocodiles.
The coastal area of Palm Cove is rich in wildlife. The ocean is home to various fish, turtles, and other marine creatures, while the beaches and nearby rainforest host birds, such as colorful parrots, and coconut palms for nature lovers. However, caution is needed during certain times of the year due to dangerous jellyfish, and designated swimming areas are often marked. In the rainforests, one can find monitor lizards, snakes, and various marsupials, such as kangaroos and koalas.
