Try a Dive | Los Gigantes Diving Centre in Tenerife

For the adventurous, a Try-a-Dive is an experience not to be missed; many who take part in this have-a-go session go on to complete a training course and further their enjoyment of this rewarding pastime. On arrival at the dive centre, equipment will first be issued and tried on for fit. Then you will be given a brief which includes safety, equipment use, ear clearing and moving underwater.

Our boat takes us to an impressive site beneath the spectacular cliffs of Los Gigantes where we anchor and give another brief on how to enter/exit the water, where we go, and what night be seen.

With a student to instructor ratio of 2:1, assistance is provided for donning the equipment and entering the water safely. A few minutes is spent initially at the surface to become accustomed to breathing from the regulator and to swim whilst wearing the equipment, then we descend to approximately 2 metres and, as confidence increases, we can then progress to 5 or 6 metres for a tour of the site.

The marine environment here in Tenerife hosts an impressive diversity of marine life: a shoal of Bream will usually accompany us for the whole dive, and occasionally an Octopus or sleeping Stingray can be seen as well as a resident shoal of Barracuda, which make this site rather special.
