if you were to look closely, you'd observe a Hugh dead plate coral that has now been inhabited with fast growing Acropora corals, this Regrowth is representative of the wider state of the Great Barrier Reef right now, in 2023.
What's really interesting about this Reel is the beautiful soft Corals hanging underneath the plates towards the end of the clip, 12-15 in number these beautiful bright red and orange beauty's thrive in high flow areas at depth however these were found at 2m deep.
All in all, I observed over 100 corals growing on the singular coral skeleton left over from the 2016-2017 mass coral bleaching event that was responsible for killing at least 1/3 of the hard and soft Corals on the Great Barrier Reef.
