Arcanum is a programmable magic system I’m building for Hytale, where spells are constructed as logic graphs and executed deterministically on a server-authoritative ECS runtime.
This video is a work-in-progress foundation showcase, as I get closer to a public release. It’s intended to demonstrate the core systems and direction of the mod.
This shows how the Gate of Babylon can be built in this mod as a single customisable spell!
Inspired by The Irregular at Magic High School and Psi, Arcanum treats magic as computation rather than predefined spell lists:
• Spells are programs
• Nodes define logic, flow, and effects
• Power is gated by cost, hardware, and counterplay — not arbitrary limits
This video shows the current v0.4.0 foundation state, focused on proving the system end-to-end:
✔ Visual spell crafting
✔ Node-based logic graphs
✔ Deterministic ECS spell execution
✔ Entity interaction (force, damage, movement)
✔ High-performance, server-safe design
This is not a content-heavy build yet — it’s the engine that future magic systems and gameplay depth will be built on.
