Is your refrigerator not cooling but the lights and fans are still working? One common cause is a bad start relay or start capacitor on the compressor. In this video I show how to diagnose and replace the start relay/capacitor to get the compressor running again.
If the compressor won’t kick on, clicks repeatedly, or the fridge is getting warm, this is one of the first things you should check.
This repair can apply to many different refrigerator brands, including:
• Whirlpool
• Frigidaire
• GE
• Kenmore
• Maytag
• Amana
• KitchenAid
• and other similar models that use a compressor start relay.
Replacing the start relay is usually a quick and inexpensive repair that can save you from replacing the entire refrigerator.
