Sugar is not just what you add to your tea or desserts. It exists in different forms, and many of them are part of our daily diet without us realizing it.
1️⃣ Glucose – A common sugar found in rice, wheat, bread, potatoes, and many processed foods. It is the body’s main energy source, but excess intake can raise blood sugar levels.
2️⃣ Fructose – Naturally present in fruits and honey, but also widely used in packaged foods, soft drinks, sauces, and juices. Too much fructose can contribute to weight gain and fatty liver.
3️⃣ Lactose – The natural sugar found in milk and dairy products like curd, paneer, and cheese. Some people may have difficulty digesting lactose, leading to bloating or discomfort.
4️⃣ Monosaccharides & other simple sugars – These are basic sugars that are quickly absorbed by the body and are commonly found in sweets, desserts, sugary drinks, and bakery items, causing rapid spikes in blood sugar.
Excess consumption of any type of sugar—natural or added—can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, dental problems, hormonal imbalance, and lifestyle disorders.
