Описание: This video is for kindergarten and first grade students learning how to draw self-portraits. Flying through the sky adds an element of fun and there are different books this lesson could be paired with that involve flying. I challenge my students to think creatively by coloring their sky without using the color blue. To integrate science, we learn about sunrises and sunsets, and how the sun appears at different positions in the sky. We explore wet on dry and wet on wet watercolor painting techniques and drawing people in the environment from observation. We use mirrors to observe ourselves, but this can also be done with pictures or looking at friends. I draw using a black crayon in the video so it's easier to see. I've found that it's easier for younger students to draw the body first and then add the details and clothes. If students use a light color crayon for this step, the lines will be covered by the clothing they add.
