Although Stonewall Jackson received his now famous nickname at the First Battle of Manassas, he would take on legendary status due to his Valley Campaign. This video begins my multi-part series on Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign. Each part of Jackson's movements will be animated to depict how Jackson's army moved up and down the Shenandoah Valley. In this video, Jackson defeats two Union contingents, one at McDowell and the other at Front Royal. His quick movements and the fact that the Union pulled troops out of the valley allowed him to score those victories.
