Welcome back — I’ll walk you through the key cards, the exact effects (verified), a simple starter combo, one surprising strategy that wins games, and whether Monarchs are still meta-viable in 2025.

KEY CARD
Eidos the Underworld Monarch — When Normal or Special Summoned: you can add 1 “Monarch” Spell/Trap or 1 monster with 2800 ATK/1000 DEF from your Deck or GY to your hand; you can declare 1 Attribute and make 1 monster on the field that Attribute; if a 2400+/1000 DEF monster is Tribute Summoned while Eidos is in your GY you can add or Special Summon Eidos.

Tessera the Primal Squire — You can reveal a “Monarch” Spell/Trap in hand to Special Summon this card from hand; during your Main Phase after that effect resolves you may Tribute Summon a monster; if sent to the GY you can Special Summon a monster with 800 ATK/1000 DEF from your Deck, but you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck that turn. (Each effect once per turn.)

The Monarchs Revolt (Spell) — Discard 1 card; reveal 3 monsters from your Deck that meet the listed ATK/DEF brackets, your opponent picks 1 to add to your hand and you send the rest to the GY; for the rest of the turn you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck. You can banish this card from your GY to Special Summon a low-stat monster (800/1000) from your hand. (Each effect once per turn.)

EASY 3-STEP STARTER COMBO (beginner friendly)
Turn 1: Reveal a Monarch Spell/Trap in hand → Special Summon Tessera, then immediately Tribute Summon (via Tessera) Eidos.
Resolve Eidos: search/tutor a Monarch Spell/Trap or a 2800/1000 monster (e.g., domain engine) to hand — set up follow-up.
Play The Monarchs Revolt (discard if needed) to dig for your big Monarch or fuel grave setup; use tribute summons to keep board control while denying Extra Deck plays.

UNIQUE STRATEGY (one that stands out)
Use Eidos to declare attributes mid-combo — this can turn opponent’s board into a vulnerability for your targeted removal (cards that care about Attributes) and dodge specific hate cards. Combine Revolt’s self-revive of a low-stat token (800/1000) + Tessera’s GY summon to chain tribute fodder across turns while locking Extra Deck-centric decks out with repeated “no ED” windows.

IS MONARCHS STILL STRONG IN THE 2025 META?
Monarchs are not dominating Tier-1 but are a resilient Tier-2/3 archetype: they perform well in ladder and rogue tournament lists after DUAD/pack releases (new selection pack techs re-energized tutor consistency and post-DUAD profiles show consistent placements). They excel vs Extra-Deck heavy metas because of repeated Extra-Deck denial and high-value tribute plays.
