2005 Cobalt - Transmission Pan and Gasket replacement

Описание: 2005 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L Ecotec Automatic transmission.
Story is this one run really good, but don't drive good. Didn't actually see the car till got it home. Open the Hood and find a funnel in the transmission fill port. (found the trans fluid cap in a corner of the engine bay) leaked transmission fluid all over the trailer. Now the trailer won't rust anymore. Check out underneath and looks like someone kept putting on some sort of stuff around the transmission pan gasket to try and stop the leak. This wrong in so many ways.

Look like the mystery substance is a little black RTV and JB weld. have to chip this all off with a screw driver and hammer. Then remove the bolts and tilt the pan to one side, drain as much fluid as possible before lowering the pan down. (Good idea to leave a few bolts on one side so the pan doesn't fall down when draining fluid.) Find out there 2 missing bolts and 2 others broken inside the transmission. Looks like the pan is warped and most all the bolts were over torqued. NOTE: do not over torque any oil pans, this causes the pan to deform and the gasket will not seal correctly and then the oil leak out.

Clean up transmission side gasket surface with razor blade, be sure to be safe with razor blades and don't damage the aluminum. Now we can pick out a screw extractor set and remove the broken bolts. Mongo pick one out the smaller then the bolt. Then drill a hole into the broken bolt (make sure this hole is straight down the middle of the broken bolt. Don't have to go all the way through) then lightly tap in the extractor and twist the bolt out. Sometimes this can be frustrating, takes lots of practice to get good.

New pan come from Autozone cost 32 buck it by ATP automotive, PN: 103013
New gasket from Autozone cost 28 buck it by Fel-Pro, PN: TOS 18715
New bolts from tractor supply M6x1.0 20mm long flanged head
make sure new gasket bolt holes line up right, there 2 spots were gasket have alignment point. These gaskets are supposed to be reusable. NO RTV.
Set the gasket on the pan aligned, then raise the assembly under the transmission, and start installing the bolts. Thread them all in loose, then just snug the bolts up. Final step torque them to 106in/lbs. DO NOT OVER TORQUE.

06:40 Fill transmission with fluid
11mm socket to remove bolt for the full port.
To fill with fluid vehicle should be on level surface. Remove the FILL port cap and put a funnel in it to add fluid. Add some fluid then start car let it get to operating temp and keep adding fluid while running until the fluid starts leaking from the FULL PORT, then put the plug back in.
put the FILL PORT cap back on. Check for leaks and test drive.

This little car drive great. imagine that, fix the oil leak and now the car runs good to!

Look like this car have a few other minor issues but running good!
