Chrysler 318 (Marine Engine) Leaking exhaust manifold replacement while boat is in the water!

Описание: This is the first of a few larger projects I have planned for my recently purchased Trojan F-30. On our maiden voyage home, I could taste the exhaust by the time we got it to the slip. I knew this was an issue that had been "repaired," but like any good enthusiast, I don't believe what anyone says. Sure enough, this manifold looks like it was repaired by a teenager with a few sticks of chewing gum. Before I bought it, I knew the riser was also getting too warm (thanks to a friend who knows what to look for) so I already had plans to tear into this particular manifold assembly.

I ordered the parts from a reputable dealer who knows Trojan boats inside and out, and got to work. I plan on doing all four at some point, but for now I just want to safely operate the boat.

If you're looking to replace your own manifolds, this should help give you a visual aid to get started. I'd recommend having someone to call for help if you need it. I actually called the person I ordered parts from twice to verify a few things. That also goes to show that ordering from the cheapest place isn't necessarily the best bet. I figure I paid at least $100 more to order these parts from a reputable dealer, but when I needed help, this man answered his cell phone after 6:00 PM to help me out.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments and I'll help as much as I can. The bolt sizes are 1/2" and 7/16". Have some sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers ready. The gasket sealer I used was Permatex aviation form-a-gasket (thin, brush-in-cap). The heater hose is 3/4" ID, 1" OD.
