The 3rd annual Eye Am Not Alone (EANA) Patient Retreat was held Friday, November 1st through Sunday, November 3rd at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
The retreat combined expert medical information with the 'softer side' of battling OM: understanding genetic testing, learning how to navigate insurance, etc. along with plenty of interaction with other patients and OM experts from around the country. Targeted at patients, their families and friends, the retreat mirrored OMF's ground-breaking 2010 conference at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center and its follow-up in Washington, DC in March 2012.
Speakers at the 2013 retreat included: Takami Sato MD, PhD, David Eschelman MD, Carin Gonsalves, MD, Carol Shields, MD, OMF Medical Director Peter Hovland, MD, PhD and OMF Scientific Advisory Board member Colleen Cebulla, MD.
