Kim Lynch Interview (2023) - Founding Member of The Loved Ones

Описание: In this episode of Vinyl Vibes, Jack is joined by Kim Lynch, original bass player and founding member of The Loved Ones. Growing up Kim listened to the likes of Buddy Holly and Ray Charles as well as a lot of Jazz records. As a Tuba player he joined his first band, The Red Onion Jazz Band in 1960. The band also included Gerry Humphrys and Ian Clyne. With Kim on bass, Gerry on vocals and Ian on organ, the band left Red Onion Jazz Band to form The Loved Ones in October 1965. The group soon signed to W&G record's and released their first single in May 1966. The single was the group's song The Loved One and would reach number nine on The Australian charts. The song has become an Australian musical icon with APRA listing the song at number 6 on their Top 30 Australian songs of all time list. The group would have another four top 20 hits in a row before Kim left the band in May 1967. In October 1967, after his departure, the group's cult classic album Magic Box came out. Kim, since then, has been involved in the art world and has been developing his art over the last five decades.
