Kelly Lee Owens shares her £500m plan to protect UK music venues, why record shops matter more than music school, and how she built a career without compromise.
How does a musician go from an auxiliary nurse to the flagship artist on George Daniel’s (@the1975 ) new label, @dh2records, and touring stadiums with @depechemode?
In this episode of the Drowned in Sound 25th Anniversary series, electronic music pioneer Kelly Lee Owens (@KLO1ish) traces her path through:
£500M PLAN → Cultural leases, venue subsidies, infrastructure
RECORD SHOPS → What Björk & Robert Plant taught her
CLASS BARRIER → Why success doesn’t erase imposter syndrome
And why a £12 show in Bethesda, North Wales, felt more vital than the Warehouse Project.
