Marcus: 'Making sure he understands his place.' Ali: 'Bruce Lee doesn't have place. He's my equal. My friend.' Marcus to Bruce: 'You're small. Weak-looking. I could break you.' Bruce: 'I'm leaving.' Marcus grabbed his arm hard. 'I didn't say you could leave.' Gym silent. Ali: 'Marcus! Let him go! Now!' Marcus ignored. 'I'm going to test you. Prove you're nothing.' Bruce: 'Three seconds let go.' Ali: 'Marcus, you're fired. Let him go.' Marcus squeezed harder. 'Do something.' 7 seconds. Second 1-2: Bruce palm strike Marcus's wrist pressure point, grip released. Second 3-4: Marcus tried grab again, Bruce caught wrists, Marcus couldn't break free. Second 5-6: Marcus stepped forward, Bruce released, Marcus stumbled, Bruce foot behind knee, leg buckled. Second 7: Marcus hit floor hard, air knocked out, gasping. Ali stood over Marcus. 'You're fired. You grabbed my friend. You got what you deserved.' To Bruce: 'I'm sorry.' Marcus: 'Who is he?' Ali: 'Bruce Lee. Best martial artist in world. My friend. My training partner. Makes me better. You disrespected him in my gym.' Marcus: 'You train with him?' Ali: 'Every week. Bruce makes me faster. More technical.' Ali: 'Marcus, leave. You're done.' They trained another hour. Next year six more sessions. Ali's footwork improved dramatically. 1973 Bruce died. Ali attended funeral front row. 'Bruce Lee was my friend. My teacher. Made me better.'
