Trains at the new Deer Park Station; Opening Day - Melbourne Transport

Описание: In this video we visit the new Deer Park station on the Ballarat and Geelong lines in Melbourne's western suburbs. Deer Park station was rebuilt above ground to grade separate the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road; opening on the 24th April 2023. The new station is notable as it's the first elevated station on the V/Line network as most other V/Line stations are at ground level and a small number are trenched.

Filmed during the late morning we only see Vlocity DMU's on this occasion; mostly three-car trains but a lone six-car train also makes an appearance. On this particular day Geelong Line trains were terminating at Wyndham Vale due to trackwork on the line; particularly in Geelong with the duplication works between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds,

We also take a quick tour of the new station... except there's not much to see. The new station was opened after a two-week shutdown of the line and I must say; on opening day Deer Park station has to be the most incomplete station I've ever visited. The station has a platform with some shelters but that's about it. There's no Myki facilities so passengers have to be issued with travel vouchers, there's no passenger information displays so you have to look at the PTV app, Google, or guess to figure out when the next train is coming, there's no CCTV so the platform is full of security guards to provide surveillance, park benches have been installed in lieu of normal seating, platform 1 still has temporary lighting, access onto platform 1 is only provided by a ramp, while access to platform 2 is by temporary scaffold stairs, not to mention that none of the station facilities such as ticket office, enclosed waiting room and toilets aren't completed. When the station is eventually fully completed later this year it will feature a ticket office, enclosed waiting room, toilets, bike cage, a bus interchange, and 150 space car park. Access to the platforms will be provided by stairs, lifts, and ramps. The platforms will feature PID's, CCTV, seating and shelter.
