Route 1L is a frequent urban limited-stop route between Hawaii Kai and Halawa Aloha Stadium Skyline Station. Limited-stop service is provided on its path along normal Route 1, which is from King Street to Kahala Mall. Unlike Route 1, Route 1L services past Kalihi Transit Center to Halawa Aloha Stadium Station via Salt Lake, while Kalihi TC is the westbound terminus for Route 1. Going eastbound, Route 1L also extends, passing Kahala Mall to Kamiloiki Valley in Hawaii Kai. However, when Route 1L is not running, Route 1 will take over service into Hawaii Kai going eastbound.
