Alfons Czibulka (1842-1894) was Hungarian and was born in present day Slovakia. He lived, worked and later died in Vienna. He started his career as a Military bandmaster and later on composed works for the musical stage. He lived in Vienna at the same time as Johann Strauss Junior. Many of his works are in the Viennese dance style, albeit with Hungarian influences. He also composed a large number of Salon style works.
Love's Dream After The Ball (Liebestraum nach dem Balle), possibly the most well known of Czibulka's works was written for the Salon Orchestra. This Waltz is not in the style of the Viennese waltz, but more like a Salon piece, with an ABA form.
"Returned from the Ball, she falls asleep....
and in a charming Vision, beholds him to whom
she has given her heart this night."
