11-Year-Old Boy Saves Mother From Near-Drowning

Описание: (By Jen French) PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A North Nashville mother is thanking her 11-year-old son for saving her life. Tiffany Sweeney nearly drowned while on vacation with her family in Panama City. Sweeney's family normally never misses a beat. Her children are triathlon athletes. Sweeney is their coach. While at a Florida pool, 11-year-old Gunner said he saw his mother go under. "She stopped in the middle of the pool and I did not know why," Gunner Sweeney said. Sweeney has a genetic heart condition that causes her to go into cardiac arrest if she physically exerts herself too much. A lifelong runner, Sweeney had no knowledge of the condition until two years ago. "I lifted her up. I was holding her by the waist so she was over my head," Gunner said. Medics say the mother of five had no pulse for eight minutes. For days, Sweeney spent the rest of her beachside vacation in the hospital in a coma. Doctors said her chances of survival were slim. Sweeney barely remembers passing out. "My husband said every time I would just look at him and I just kind of whispered what happened?" Tiffany Sweeney said. Sweeney couldn't be more proud of her son. "It was pretty cool see Gunner recognized for being brave and taking matters into his own hands," Sweeney said. Sweeney is wearing a defibrillator until she can get surgery Monday to put an internal one inside her body. "It's monitoring my heart at all times and if something happens it will sound an alarm," Sweeney said. Nothing matches the alarm that went off in Gunner's head that pushed him to rescue his mother.
