This is how I teach my students to start the 4 in 1 chain maille bracelet.
In class we work on foam pads, but you can also use a towel or a piece of leather to work on. A soft surface will help keep your rings from “leaving without permission.”
You need two pairs of pliers, one for each hand. As long as they are smooth faced, without teeth, you can use whatever style is comfortable for you. I prefer bent-nose pliers, and that is what I keep in my classroom for my students.
