The hand oblique view is a radiographic projection used to visualize the metacarpals, phalanges, and interphalangeal joints of the hand.
Positioning:
The hand is placed in a 45-degree oblique position, with the ulnar (little finger) side down.
The fingers are slightly flexed and separated.
The central ray is directed perpendicular to the image receptor, centered over the third metacarpophalangeal joint.
What it shows:
The metacarpals and phalanges are visualized in an oblique plane.
The interphalangeal joints are well-demonstrated.
The carpometacarpal joints are also visible.
