A GitHub Pull Request (PR) was made by a user on the xdg-desktop-portal GitHub repository and the systemd GitHub repository. This was made due to mandatory compliance with the recent OS-level age verification laws; California (AB-1043), Colorado (SB26-051), and Brazil (Lei 15.211/2025). As this got a lot of criticism on social media and I have concerns that these legislations may restrict access to applications, I decided to make a fork that has the previous changes made to the code reverted.
