This album is typical of O'Farrill's fiery style of big band Latin jazz. If the saxophones sound odd, that is due to using the Selmer Varitone electronic saxophone, which never caught on despite being used by a handful of professional players. It's surprising that Verve has never reissued this title in the US, although they have compiled some of his earliest recordings on 10" LP from the Clef and Norgran labels onto a 2-CD set.
