Gemini PT-1000 Direct Drive "DJ" Turntable

Описание: The number of people whose inability and carelessness to assiduously prepare an item for shipment is immeasurable. More often than not, their complacency comes back to haunt them.

This Gemini PT-1000 (one of many Technics SL-1200 clones such as the Audio Technica AT-LP120) was in modest condition for a turntable whose life was spent as a piece of DJ equipment complete with scratches and scuffs to prove it. In any event, it was pictured and described as being in functional condition, save for its broken stylus. Being that it was considerably economical in contrast to other direct drive "DJ" turntables I elected to take a chance and buy it.

Several days later, a package arrived on my doorstep. Subsequent inspection revealed heavy damage sustained not to the box but to the item contained therein. The turntable was loosely wrapped in bubble wrap and a few deflated airbags, and was left to bounce around inside. As one could probably surmise, cracked and warped plastic were a recurring affair.

Accompanying the superficial damage was evidence of the erstwhile owner' shoddy attempt at a repair--haphazard blobs of solder aimlessly adorning plastic surfaces and audio cables wired with the wrong polarity thus causing out-of-phase audio issues.

Some rehabilitative action on my part was necessary before it was functional.
