1. Lindelani Mkhize, one of the co-founders of the gospel choir Joyous Celebration. He has been accused by his fellow co-directors of mismanaging the choir's funds for his personal benefit. A recommendation was made by an investigator from the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) regarding the matter. This led to Mkhize being asked to step back by his co-directors, Goodman "Jabu" Hlongwane and Mthunzi Namba. Despite the dispute, all three men maintain they are still co-owners of the company and consider each other "brothers" and "family." They assure supporters that the disagreement will not affect Joyous Celebration.
Took Secret Sponsorships: Secured deals with MTN, African Bank, and Bathu without telling his partners, and had the money paid into his personal accounts.
Stole Company Money for Himself: Used Joyous Celebration funds to pay for over R1 million of his personal travel and car rentals.
Never Repayed a Loan: Borrowed R300,000 from the company in 2017 for his own project and allegedly never paid it back.
Got the Company in Tax Trouble: His actions led to the Joyous Celebration Foundation getting a R1 million tax bill from SARS.
2. Cell C has reached a major "turning point," reporting its first-ever interim results as a JSE-listed company on February 13, 2026.
Revenue: Increased 1.9% year-on-year to R5.68 billion.
Net Profit: Reported a substantial net profit of R3.36 billion, largely aided by once-off restructuring items and debt-to-equity conversions.

Net Debt: Significantly reduced to R2.39 billion from R5.69 billion at the end of FY2025.

Wholesale (MVNO): Continued as the primary growth engine, with revenue up 22.5%. Cell C now supports over 5.1 million MVNO subscribers through partners like Capitec Connect and FNB Connect.
Prepaid: Revenue grew 1.6% to R2.74 billion, supported by a recovery in subscriber volumes (up over 1 million).
Postpaid: Revenue rose 2.3% to R1.2 billion, with Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) increasing to R230 despite a decline in total subscriber numbers due to a base "clean-up".

1. KZN Name changes will cost billions. In January 2026, the Zulu monarch called for the province to be renamed simply to KwaZulu. The King argues that "Natal" is a colonial imposition (named by Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in 1497) and that the region was historically known as KwaZulu under the Zulu kingdom. The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the National Freedom Party (NFP) have officially backed the proposal. While the provincial name change is currently just a proposal, several geographical names in KZN were officially changed in January 2026 by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. East London (while in the Eastern Cape, it was part of a larger 21-name change gazette) will be renamed KuGompo City. Graaff-Reinet is set to be renamed after struggle stalwart Robert Sobukwe.
