The pA2 value is defined as the negative logarithm of the molar concentration of the antagonist required to reduce the effect of multiple doses of the agonist to that of a single dose in the absence of the antagonist. The difference between pA2 and pA10 have wider applications. If the difference between the two values is found to be near 0.95 then the antagonism is likely to be competitive type. An antagonist acting on the same receptor will have same pA2 value in all the tissue or organ preparations.
