SYF 2017 Theme Song - "In My Hands"

Congratulations to Lim Jing Xuan, Trinity from Anglican High School for winning the inaugural SYF 2017 Theme Song Writing Contest with her song "In My Hands".

The song “In My Hands” describes a story of a youth who loves music and the arts. It aims to inspire youths not to give up on their pursuit for the arts even when people discourage you to do so! Let’s find out more about what Trinity has to say:
"I was inspired to write the song “In My Hands” when I wanted to capture the feeling that you should follow your dreams and really believe in them no matter what. I love composing, and sometimes when I am walking, I get a really catchy tune in my head and I immediately record it on my phone. I took the tune for In my hands from a huge
collection of songs.

I am grateful to my school for giving me this opportunity to grow and take part in this competition and one great takeaway I had is that it is possible to improve your voice, because it is growing all the time. I never thought that my voice was good enough to sing my own song, but after some training I realised that it is an attainable goal. A lot of people think that you have to be born with it, but I have learnt a good singing voice comes with a lot of hard work. I guess this applies to many things in life as well. I think It’s important that you write songs that you want to hear and listen to, and not just songs that follow the present trends. At the end of the day you want to be true to yourself."
