Fourteen candidates will stand in the Westminster by-election in Rutherglen and Hamilton West. Voters will go to the polls on October the fifth in a showdown which could generate far-reaching political consequences.
The constituency was last contested in 2019 when the now-disgraced Margaret Ferrier won the seat for the SNP.
Scotland Tonight assessed the current state of play with STV's political correspondent Ewan Petrie.
