In today's video, I'm sharing how I make my own shampoo and conditioner, along with the steps that keep my hair healthy, shiny, and nourished. 🌱
I hope this video inspires you to create your own moments of care and self-love.
Before making your products, keep the following considerations in mind:
Patch Test: Before using any product, test on a small area to check for allergies.
Sterilize Everything: Clean all tools, containers, and hands thoroughly.
Protect from Light: Use dark-colored bottles to store the product and prevent degradation.
Seal Properly: Avoid reopening bottles after sealing.
Add a Preservative: A cosmetic preservative is essential for longevity.
Measure Carefully: Follow precise measurements for ingredients to avoid imbalances that could affect the shampoo's effectiveness.
Label Clearly: Include the date and key details like ingredients.
DIY Shampoo Ingredients:🌱
Shampoo % 200g
Water or Hydrosol 81% 162g
SCI Surfactant 12% 24g
Vegetable Oil 3% 6g
Vegetable Glycerin 2.5% 5g
Xanthan or Guar Gum 0.5% 1g
Cosmetic Preservative 1% 2g
Steps:
1. Combine 162 g distilled water and 24 g SCI surfactant in a heatproof jar. Heat in a double boiler on low, stirring gently (no foam, warm but not boiling).
2. Mix 5 g glycerin with 1 g xanthan or guar gum separately, then add to the surfactant mixture.
3. Cool to room temperature.
4. Add 6 g calendula oil and adjust pH to 5 with a 1:1 citric acid solution if needed.
5. To prepare a 1:1 pH adjuster, mix equal parts of distilled water and citric acid. For example, combine 10 g of citric acid with 10 g of distilled water. Stir until the citric acid is fully dissolved. Use this solution to adjust the pH of your product as needed.
6. Mix in 2 g preservative and transfer to a bottle.
