Madman (kyoujin) - Remixer Commentary
BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!!
As I have previously stated, Sou Hiyori is my favorite character in Your Turn To Die (: hehehehehehe, I love misdirection!!!
In all seriousness though, Midori is a really really interesting antagonist. His motivations remain unclear, but to me that's what makes his ties to the main cast so intresting, and his subtle manipulation of each one of them so effective. His theme in the original laid a fine basis and does kind of show how chaotic he can be, but I wanted to take it further. I made it funky, and this song is tied for being my favorite arrangement from the soundtrack.
I started with making up a motif to signify him, this motif appears in a lot of other tracks, I won’t tell you which though and in what way! For the production I was very much inspired by Sly and the Family Stone and a lot of stuff Nile Rodgers and Cory Wong made, the way they sort of layer yheir guitars in this…funk wall was really inspiring. This song has a total of eight guitars! Which is way more than any other track I worked on, considering I don’t know how to play guitar! (I chopped up a bunch of different guitar samples and plugins!)
I decided to end on the Aren’t You Cheerful motif, which although it was a challenge mix-wise I’m still very proud of, this song feels somewhat like a sarcastic version of that one, so ending them in a similar manner was all but necessary to me.

Your Turn To Die Remixed is a playable music mod that I’ve been working on for over a year, it is compatible with both the Steam and non-Steam releases of the game, and features 16 arrangements of some of the songs in the soundtrack. These arrangements are meant to work (and loop) in tandem with the existing and pre-established soundtrack, building on its leitmotifs and overall style and expanding on their compositional and production front.
