Why is the crude oil price going up? In December 2025, a barrel of US oil (WTI) cost $55. On 30 October 2026, it closed at $104.12, almost double in ten months, and US gasoline is back above $4 a gallon.
This video explains the oil price on real candlestick charts: what a barrel is and the two benchmark prices (WTI and Brent), why oil was falling in 2025, the 28 February war and the closing of the Strait of Hormuz, the +36% week and the $119 high, the ceasefire that knocked oil down 16% in one day, why the fighting sent it back above $100, October's 15% jump, why thin world stockpiles keep prices high, what it means for gas and inflation, and the big oil spikes of 2008, 2020 and 2022.
We explain the chart. We never tell you what to buy.
