Kolathur Assembly Constituency is one of the 234 constituencies in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. It is located in Chennai district and was created after the 2008 delimitation of constituencies. It is part of the Chennai North Lok Sabha constituency.
Stalin first won the seat in 2011, defeating AIADMK candidate Saidai Duraisamy by a small margin.
He was re-elected in 2016 and 2021, making Kolathur his political base in Chennai.
After the 2021 victory, he became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, while continuing as the MLA of Kolathur.
