The UK band, who are comprised of frontman Jake Roche, Charley Bagnall (guitar), Danny Wilkin (bass and keyboard) and Lewi Morgan (drums) have knocked It's My Birthday by will.i.am FT Cody Wise (Number 3 today) off the chart summit after just one week on top.

"Being Number 1 is probably the biggest thing ever that has happened to us in our lives!" a thrilled Jake Roche told OfficialCharts.com. "And it means a lot because it's in our home country, and that's something that's been the main goal for us, to really make an impact. It's a dream. Thank you to everyone who has bought it for your support."

The Manchester band are also staying true to a bold promise they made to their fans earlier this week, by getting matching tattoos now they've officially secured a debut chart topper.

Rixton have a tattoo artist booked for a show they are playing tonight, who will ink a broken heart logo onto each band member; Jake is getting his on his bicep, Charley's will be etched on his rib, Lewi's on his thumb, and a nervous Danny says that he will be getting his on his thigh, "so he will be able to hide it from [his] parents".
