Under proposed changes to Singapore's filial support law, parents who have failed to take care of their children may find it harder to get financial support from them, The Maintenance of Parents Act currently allows elderly Singaporeans who cannot provide for themselves to claim assistance from their children. The proposed amendments seek to prevent its misuse. The recommendations are based on a review by a working group following two rounds of public consultation.
