Criminal defense attorney Truman Fitzgerald addressed the media following a bond hearing for Kanen Isaac Harper, 24, of Moody, who is charged with felony murder in the shooting death of Christian Scott White in Trussville.
Judge Tanita Cain granted Harper a bond set at approximately $200,000 with electronic ankle monitoring after a pre-trial detention hearing. Fitzgerald outlined the defense’s claim that Harper acted in self-defense, citing witness testimony, evidence presented in court, and the sequence of events leading up to the shooting early Dec. 20, 2025, near Gadsden Highway.
Prosecutors argue Harper introduced deadly force into a fist fight, while the defense maintains Harper feared serious physical injury. The case remains under investigation
