Hi there!
I made this video specifically for my Petersen Barn students, so they have something to work on and practice before class next week. Because it's on my YouTube channel, everyone can learn and play. Yay!!
If you don't know, I'm teaching a weekly watercolor and collage class at a community center in Eugene, Oregon called the Petersen Barn. It is the cutest barn converted to an activity center for kids and adults. They host art classes, dance classes, pre-school/daycare, and have a beautiful community garden.
Anywhoooo. In this video, I'm sharing two watercolor techniques: wet on wet and wet on dry. What that means is wet paint on wet paper and wet paint on dry paper. Practicing these two techniques creates the opportunity to experiment with how the paint and water react together as well as how much paint and how much water do you need or want to get the effect you like.
I'll demonstrate a whole sheet of swatches followed by a flowing watercolor heart. Just in time for Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day, or any day you feel a little lovey dovey. Supplies and inspirational artists discussed in the video are listed below.
Please like, share, and subscribe so others can learn and play too. Thanks for watching!
