GWM is a Chinese brand you may not have heard of, aiming to take on the ever growing hybrid SUV market!

In this video I take a look at Haval’s first car to hit the UK market, the Jolion Pro Hybrid. A small-medium sized SUV priced from £23,995.

As for GWM, the Ora Funky Cat was the group’s first mainstream car to hit UK roads, and previously they did have a pickup truck named the Steed for a short time on UK roads from 2012-2016.

The GWM Haval brand is quite popular in many other regions including Australia and South Africa, where the brand has many more models available.

The model is tested was the GWM Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid Ultra (a bit of a mouthful!) being the top-spec it featured a sunroof, roof rails, full LEDs, ventilated driver’s seat, electric front seats & more. On paper the car has a lot going for it & I also did enjoy the mostly smooth driving experience with the one-pedal driving mode, an uncommon feature for a hybrid vehicle!

Competition has never been tougher, with more Chinese brands making a huge impact and aiming to make high quality interiors as we have seen from the Jaecoo & Omoda brands, with European quality feeling cabins. Unfortunately, this is a downside to the Jolion as I cover in my review. It will be interesting to see what the brand brings next, thanks again to GWM UK for lending me this new SUV.
