ChatGPT Model Retirement Explained: GPT-4, GPT-4.1, and What’s Replacing Them

Описание: Your favorite ChatGPT models are packing their bags. If you’ve seen the "Leaving Feb 13" tag on GPT-4o or GPT-4.1, it’s not a glitch, and it is, in fact, a forced retirement.

I show you the legacy model graveyard to explain why OpenAI is removing the models we actually liked for creative writing. GPT-5.2 is the new standard, but many think its default tone is a bit too formal, stiff, and a far cry from the conversational warmth of 4o.

The Retirement Schedule: GPT-4o and 4.1 exit the main stage on Feb 13th, but Custom GPTs get to stay at least until April 3rd.
The API Exception: If you use Zapier or N8N, your workflows are safe (for now).
The Tone Problem: GPT-5.2 is professional by default. I show you how to use "Personalization" settings to get your "Friendly" bot back.
The Reasoning Trap: 4o had reasoning on by default. 5.2 doesn’t. If your math or code is failing, you’re likely stuck in "Instant" mode instead of "Thinking."
