Materials not to use:
wooden dowel – wood is brittle and deteriorates quickly
metal conduit – rusts, heavy, once bent it stays bent
PVC – deteriorates quickly in UV/sun and becomes brittle

Adhesives To Use
JB Weld Cold Weld Formula, short setup and cure time
3M 5200, long setup and cure time
Adhesives NOT to use
PVC Glue, works by chemically melting the two pieces of PVC together.
Wood glue, does not bond to fiberglass at all
Epoxies in the syringe type tubes
Expanding glues like Gorilla Glue
