Okay, okay, okay at LEAST let me explain myself. So a few months ago I was watching the AGDQ finale where they ran Undertale to close out the event. The runner made it to the battle with Sans at the end of the genocide route and Megalovania got stuck in my head after the show was over. Then this idea hit me; what would it sound like in a major key? I came up with a variation on the the main theme then I thought it would be funny to basically turn it into a Beatles song.

So the next morning I started arranging it just to see what it would sound like and the whole time I kept saying to myself, "oh, God, am I really doing this?". I put together this little draft of just the musical arrangement and sent it to my buddy Ace Waters and his response was pretty much, "oh, God, are you really doing this?".

Then something bad happened; a couple of lines of lyrics popped into my head. In fact, it was the "everybody has to bear the weight of their sins..." part to be exact. Then everything snowballed out of control and so here we are.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Megalovania. I feel like there are so many other tracks from the Ut ost that are so much better. That said, I realllly like this arrangement and had a ton of fun putting it together. It took an obscene amount of time to produce. Dozens of hours.

I asked my buddy Austin to play drums on it and his response was something like, "oh, God are you really making me do this?". Go check him out and say thanks for helping me out with this! (   / bokunoeruption  )

One of my favorite things about Undertale is how it kicks down the 4th wall at times. The final battle with Sans is one of a few sections where the game gets meta and that was a big inspiration for the lyrics.

So pretty much the lyrics are from the perspective of Sans after he is spared by the human. Sort of in commendation of the human for "doing the right thing".

This will most likely be that last Undertale thing that I ever do. I'd say it's more than run its course for me in terms of covers, haha. If Toby Fox does more music in the future then we'll see what happens.

I wanted to have this out on April Fool's, the joke being that this song is the biggest meme of the last two years and here I am doing it straight and in a major key. Didn't make it in time so just pretend it's April 1st.
