Get ready for an egg-cellent classroom craft! Turn a flat-packed hat into an Easter adventure filled with colour, texture, and hidden eggs to discover. Let’s get started!
You’ll need:
Cardboard Easter Hat (CS7216)
Paint – Pastel Green (CS2098) and Yellow (FN1101)
Foam Stampers (TH0111)
Messy Mats (TEB5102)
Copy Paper – Green (TEB0808) & Pastel Green (TEB0801)
Green Crinkle Shredded Paper (CS6565)
Botanical Paper Cuts (RE15333)
Easter Chicks (CS0093)
Easter Stickers (CS6564)
Foam Easter Egg Stickers (CS2383)
Mini Craft Carrots (SH1994)
Glitter Daisy Stickers (CS2379)
Deco-foam Eggs (SH823)
Paper Magiclay Candy Colours (TH0295)
Paper Magiclay White (TH280)
Strong Craft Glue (CS0004)
Scissors
Let’s make it!
✅ Gently pop out the cardboard hat pieces from the backing sheet. You should have three parts: the hat, the brim and the centre/top.
✅ Paint each piece in green and yellow to create a fresh, grassy base. Set aside to dry.
✅Assemble the hat by connecting the three pieces, securing each join with strong craft glue. Tip: Press the pieces together for a few seconds to help them bond.
✅ Use strong craft glue to attach green crinkle shredded paper to the top section of the hat.
✅Fold two sheets of paper (green and pastel green) in half, then cut long strips of ‘grass’ about 20cm in length. Grass isn’t uniform in nature, so variations are perfectly okay.
✅ Glue the paper grass around the outside edge of the hat. Set aside to dry.
Pop the Botanical Cuts leaves and flowers from their backing. Assemble the flower pieces together as desired, securing them with strong glue.
✅Mix white Magiclay with candy coloured Magiclay and smooth the mixture around the deco-foam eggs. Roll each egg gently in your hands to even the surface. Add dots and stripes using small pieces of Magiclay candy colours. Set aside to harden.
✅ Let’s bring your hat together! Glue the Botanical Cuts flowers and leaves, mini carrots and chicks to the brim. Then peel off the backing and attach the Easter-themed stickers and foam shapes around the outside.
✅ Finish by tucking your decorated eggs into the crinkle shredded paper ‘grass’ on the top of the hat.
Done! Your perfect Easter Egg Hunt hat is ready for the parade.
*TOP TIP – Label each student’s hat pieces on the inside for easy organisation. Use labelled baking paper as a surface for students to dry their Botanical Cuts flowers and deco-foam eggs – no mix-ups and easy clean-up!
