The Merlin, like the strumstick, is derived from the mountain dulcimer. The Merlin is made by Seagull in LaPatrie, Quebec, Canada.
The Merlin has 7 frets whereas the strumstick has 12 frets (including what is referred to as the 6 1/2 fret in the mountain dulcimer).
The Merlin is more limited than the strumstick but it is still a joy to play.
Back in 2010 I put out a strumstick music book which has now sold over 500 copies.
This past August I was introduced to the Merlin and after playing with it for a month I decided that I should make a music book for the Merlin as well. Although both instruments are based on the mountain dulcimer the books are not fully interchangeable.The fewer frets for the Merlin requires some adjustments in some of the tunings and tabs.

The Merlin book has 80 songs.
