From being a member of Haile Salassie's Imperial Band, to releasing three albums on French label Buda Musique's world renowned Ethiopiques series, and receiving the BBC's World Music Award in 2007, Ethiopian protégée Mahmoud Ahmed has made himself an international legend of Ethiopia's "golden era" of music.
In January 2013, Melbourne based Ethio-Jazz ensemble, JAzmaris united with the Ethiopian icon to perform two sell out and energetic shows at MONA FOMA Festival in Hobart and Arts Centre Melbourne.
