Disclaimer:
access to Aiguille du Midi take-off (approx. 3500m) requires a technical descent from the cable car station (3800m) down a narrow and exposed arête (narrow ridge); a suitable level of mountaineering skills and experience as well as suitable equipment (ice axe, crampons) are required.
weather assessment is critical as this flying site is situated at high altitude and can be exposed to harsh and rapidly-changing weather;
flying close to high and steep rock faces should only be attempted in calm air, with low wind speed, low turbulence and good visibility; pilot should be well rested and focused; flying a wing with good passive safety is also recommended.
