Did you know... more than 40 million U.S. consumers fell victim to some sort of identity theft in 2021? In fact, according to Javelin Strategy, traditional identity fraud losses exploded in 2021 to $24 billion – a disturbing increase of 79% over 2020, and added together with identity fraud scams in which the victim is influenced to provide their personal information, losses topped $52 billion.

Identity theft is when someone uses your personally identifiable information, also known as PII, for their own personal gain. What we’re referring to is your social security number, credit card numbers, date of birth, etc. Combined by the wrong hands, and you could have a disaster on your hands. And, given we live in a society where so much of our data is easily accessible online, anyone can be a victim! So, it’s imperative you know how to protect your information to lessen your chances of becoming the next statistic.
